Hi, could anyone teach me/instruct me on how to recode the agegroup variable into a dummy code variable?   This information doesn't seem to be provided anywhere in the lecture notes.  Thanks!

HW 4

In creating dummy code variables, I was able to create the first variable (C1), but I'm not sure how to create subsequent variables without the first one being deleted. I'm sure I'm missing a step somewhere. Can anyone help me, please?

HW4-Q4

What does the "last session outcome score is regressed on the first session outcome score" mean?  I'm confused by the wording...

Homework Write Up

In our write up for the homework, do we need to say whether the overall model was significant? That isn't really addressed by any of the hypotheses, but it is included in the sample write ups that Dr. Kim provided.

Negative Beta?

What do I do if  end up with a negative Beta in one one of my coefficient tables?

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

For HW 2, it mentions that we are required to include the details for all the variables, Is that referring to the mean, SD or to the un-standardized Beta, SE, and Standardized Beta.

Homework 2 Question - Reporting Means

Let's say hypothetically that a mean we wanted to report was -0.0026. How would we report that in a table?
< - 0.001 ? Negative sign?
= 0.00 ?

Any help with the rules on that would be greatly appreciated!

Article Reviews Question

Regarding the Article Reviews,

I followed the sample review that Dr. Kim gave us and was marked down for the headers. He had told us to follow the sample exactly as he had given it to us. Could someone please look into this?

Thanks.

Regression hw1 questions

What does Dr. Kim mean when he says disregard group, does this mean I am supposed to have only 1 scatter plot for the entire data(with x on a axis and y on y axis)?? Does this mean I'm supposed to split/unsplit file?? Also, if I am supposed to have a scatterplot for x and one for y, am I supposed to do jittering prior to answering questions 2 and 3 because the data points are clustered? Did I miss a practice exercise to help answer this HW assignment? I remember we always had a practice exercise in ANOVA.

Homework Question

In ANOVA, we had a very specific way we were supposed to do the homework with the write up and everything. For our Regression homework, do we need to do the write up? Or do we just answer the questions on the sheet that he gave us?

For instance, for # 1 can we just put, "Group 0: Mean of x = #, mean of y = #, SD = #. Group 1: Mean of x = #, mean of y = #, SD = #."

And for #9, is ok to just say "the intercept is or is not significantly different than 0" for our answer since that is what the question is asking? Or is there some special way to be formatting it?

Thank you!

T-Test and Anova Q2 on HW

do we need to have a split file before running a t-test and anova for Q2?
as i am inputting in the variables for the T Test, i am selecting Y as the test variable  and X as the grouping variable defined by (0 1) but the output table is blank " the independent samples test is not produced"? what am i doing wrong?

Hey everybody, we are trying to get the blog set up for the quarter, but we're having some technical difficulties. Are any of you able to post comments? Please let one of the TAs (Grace, TJ, Eric, Jeff, or I) know if you want to be added to the blog. If we are able to import everyone's Fuller address, we will. Thank you for your patience!
