df1 = k - 1

Hi, I'm working on question 9 in the review sheet.

When using the equation df1 = k - 1 in regression, is the constant considered one of the predictors so that df1 = k - 1 = 2 (the constant and another predictor) - 1 = 1?

Is this the right way to look at it or should I be taking the class again?

The constant is not a predictor.

The df for a regression starts with total N, loses one for the intercept (constant) and one for each predictor.

I guess I worded it that way because of the way the constant is listed under predictors in the output. Thanks!
